ABCs of Marketing

The clouds have been looking very ominous these few days and it finally rained today, the whole day. This is the 1st time I experienced rain here in Brissy. I’m serious. It’s been sunny day in day out, albeit cold winter winds, during this drought season. And also this is the 1st weekend that I didn’t go out. Exams next week and also assignment and project deadlines are slowly creeping in. Oh yeah, and I’m broke. Argh I hate being broke! It’s even more difficult being broke here because you don’t have your parents to pay for your rent and electricity and gas and fuck shit. I thought of finding a part time job but I’m still adapting and getting used to the life here. And I wanna focus on my studies 1st because my main objective is of course to study. Unlike last time where I juggled both poly and work, I’m not sure if I could do it here. The teaching style is totally different compared to poly. The lecturers don’t spoon feed you with detailed lecture notes and give much pointers for your assignments. One thing is that they like to talk cock, to side track, and the Australian students love talking cock as well, so half of the time during lecture or tutorial, it would be all about talking cock. Particularly my marketing subjects. It frustrates me sometimes. Speaking of being frustrated, it really annoys me that especially some people here (and some people in Singapore) have this idea that I’m rich just because I’m studying overseas. They just don’t know the struggle I had to go through, and my parents as well, to get myself here. It’s very shallow and indeed stupid to think this way. Not all overseas students come from rich backgrounds what. And just because I wear nice clothes, go shopping, don’t look “poor”, doesn’t mean I have unlimited spending power. It’s just the little treats and luxuries I enjoy and giving good impressions to people by wearing nice decent clothes isn’t something I call rich, it’s called marketing…
