Emotional Yet Thrilling Beginning
This is my inaugural entry ever online i suppose as i’ve never had a blog before. This is very amateur as you can see for yourself, but like whatever, as this serves as a means to narrate my new life as an undergrad in Brisbane and get connected with my friends in Singapore. So let’s start. This is probably gonna be a long post as it’s long overdue. I should have begun this blog before i left Singapore but i was too busy preparing and when i came here was busy with orientation, finding accommodation and setting up internet connection. The picture is me at the airport minus one huge luggage that was already checked in. I was given a 30kg bagagge allowance but exceeded by 6kg! Thank goodness for my super smart cousin who helped me with the checking in and i didnt have to pay excess baggage, and also got me a relatively good seat. My family, relatives and friends (thank you Ariel, Munhong, Zhenhui, Serene, Daniel,Snorlax) came to send me off albeit tearful goodbyes. I took Qantas by the way and it was alright. The crew members were apparently young unlike what i’ve been told by other people (except for this particular air stewardess who was humongous and kept bumping onto passengers’ elbows, including mine, as she traipsed up and down the aisle). Food served was reasonable enough. I like the continental breakfast as it came with warm melting chocolate croissant. The inflight entertainment had excellent movies, quite recent releases. Just that i was unlucky to have sat at the seat which had the computer system malfunctioned and i was not being entertained for an hour. The crew were accomodating though and very friendly, especially this lady who kept on apologising on whoever’s behalf. Oh i didn't sleep at all throughout the 7.5 hrs flight as there was this baby with gorgeous blue eyes that kept on bawling every ten minutes! Half an hour before the plane touched down, i could see the sun just breaking out and illuminating the lands below. It was a sight to behold, what with the pipe in music of Australia being played, it completes the whole breathtaking experience. I felt a rush of emotions as i couldnt believe i was actually going to live my dream of going university, in Australia no less! When i landed, i had to wait for ages for my bag to come out and had my bags inspected by this really nice man. Didnt have problems at all surprisingly. Oh i like the sniffer dogs at the airport. So cute. When i passed through the immigration, i was to be received by the representative from QUT. I couldnt see any sign and i became panicky. Tried calling the school but my Starhub SIM card just wouldnt work even after i activated the auto roaming. Hate technology. So i went back once again just to check if i missed out on the sign. Lucky enough, realising how lost i was, an aged man came up to me and asked if i was a student. He then brought me to gather at the corner where there were other international students. I then hopped on this small van with a German guy and an LA girl, with all our belongings crammed at the back. When i stepped out of the airport, my goodness the air was just so cool and refreshing i tell ya! Not like hot, stale, smelly Singapore air.
